ROA is owned and operated by Sue Hachey, who has been a veteran of the music scene for the past 43 years. Music has always been a very integral part of her life. While based out of Toronto playing in bands for most of the 80’s & 90’s, she now wants to share her musical expertise with you. Sue’s goal is to deliver musical instruction to people of all ages within a comfortable environment that focuses on nurturing and developing talent, while also maintaining their interest throughout the lesson. Sue has handpicked a team of tutors who have displayed talent to teach lessons in guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, ukulele and vocals.

Not only does this team give great instruction but they also provide great role models for our young students that attend Rock of Ages. With a changing world of technology, social engagement is increasing becoming more and more important in our children’s lives. Rock of Ages is more than just a music school. It builds confidence and promotes social interaction. With the tutors guiding their students, they get the experience of playing in a band from their very first lesson. The idea is to make music easy and direct with progress shown from the very beginning, by eliminating the unnecessary elements.

Lessons run once a week for one hour, the breakdown of the lesson goes as follows: 30 minutes of instruction, 15 minutes to practice songs, and 15 minutes to test your skills in a jam setting. Hourly lessons are very effective, even for younger students. Students will progress through the course at a faster rate if they have a full hour of lesson as there is more time for learning and practicing. They will learn more songs and be able to withstand a longer jam session. Also, hour sessions are more flexible for parents as it gives them time to run errands, chat to the other parents or get your head stuck in a book as the jam session fires up!

Besides weekly lessons, Rock of Ages takes every opportunity for students to showcase their talents outside the facility. Rock of Ages puts on concerts off-site various times throughout the year and participates in other community events.
